This was the first year that this 3D event was held. The host club, Triple Creek RC did its usual fine job of putting on an event. Jeff Wortner, the other club members and Boy Scouts who worked the event did a great job. Unfortunately there was some rain here and there, but when it wasn’t raining, there was very little wind, and no wind is an important part of a 3D event. Dozens of pilots came, flew and had a great time.
There was a dunk tank, and there was a contest to see who could dunk their tail into the water the fastest after take off. One of the stars of the event, Rennie Ladines won the dunk contest with a time of just 16 seconds. As you can see, there were a few mishaps during the dunk contest, but no serious damage occurred. The plane which wound up swimming in the pool was disqualified because there was a rule that the plane had to be dunked. Swimming was not allowed. (Spoilsports!!) J Everyone got lots of laughs and all were impressed with the outstanding flying.
The event was primarily a fun fly, with the only competition being the dunk event. There were always several planes in the air which were hovering, doing blenders, walls and more. The BBQ on Saturday night was a big hit as well. TBM brought its ShockJet and several pilots flew it on the buddybox both days.
