New TBM DLE Engines Silencers!

Having a noise problem at your field using the stock muffler on your DLE 20, DLE 30 or DLE 55cc gas engine?
Don't have the room or money to install a header and canister setup?
Then we have the solution!

Available in three different sizes, the DLE Muffler Silencers work very well. They decrease the noise level noticeably without compromising the top end performance or increase the cylinder head temperatures excessively. There is a loss of a few hundred rpm at full throttle. Obviously there is only a slight performance decrease, and this is only at full throttle. Most of the time, the engine is not at full throttle, so the general performance of the aircraft is not compromised much. With AMA and flying fields looking for alternative methods to lower the noise of RC planes the Muffler Silencers may be just what you have been looking for. This is a simple alternative which is low cost and extremely easy to add compared to canister mufflers, converting to 4-stroke engines, or converting to electric motors.
Extremely easy to install. You may press fit the silencer in place and then use the included silicone tubing and cable ties to secure it, or drill a hole and install a screw instead of using the tubing.

DLE 20 Muffler Silencer - $27.99 - INTRO PRICE $20.00!
DLE 30 Muffler Silencer - $28.99 - INTRO PRICE $20.00!
DLE 55/111 Muffler Silencer - $35.99 - INTRO PRICE $20.00!

Sorry for the delay guys but we have been very busy with orders. Below you will find pictures of the Dog Sabre it is complete and flies great. Our Factory Demo model is powered by a King Tech K80 kero start. We are using JR thin wing servo's on the elevators, HS 645MG on the Ail and Flaps, HS 225MG on the Rudder and nose wheel steering and a HS225BB on the retract valve. We are using a airpower proportional brake valve and our Struts Wheels and Brakes. We had only 2 flights on this airplane and it flew awesome. It slows down just like Tornado and high Speed is about 180 mph.

Spektrum and JR DSMX transmitters operating in DSM2 mode

May 25, 2011
DSMX transmitters operating in DSM2 mode

The Spektrum Team has been investigating sporadic reports from DSMX transmitter owners using their products in DSM2 mode. We have discovered that in some rare instances, DSMX equipped transmitters with the Product ID (PID) within this bulletin, may have a backwards compatibility issue that could cause a "hold" with the following superseded DSM2 receivers: AR500, AR6100, AR6100E, AR6110, AR6110E, AR6200 and AR6300.

Note: This bulletin does not apply to DSM2 ONLY transmitters.

Please read more about this service bulletin HERE.

Hitec WARNING – 2.4GHz AFHSS System locks out when used with an optical kill switch.

Source: Hitec Service Bulletins

2.4GHz System Warning

May 31st, 2011
WARNING – 2.4GHz AFHSS System locks out when used with an optical kill switch.

Hitec USA’s service department has received reports that some users of our 2.4GHz AFHSS System have experienced system lockouts that have resulted in the loss of control of their aircraft. While there are several factors that can contribute to this, including poor power distribution or improper equipment installation, the increased volume of these reports has prompted an investigation in order to determine the cause. Our preliminary observations have suggested that the use of Optical Kill devices in conjunction with ignition engines is somehow causing our system to fail.

In light of this discovery it is suggested that users of our 2.4GHz AFHSS system discontinue the use of Optical Kill switches until a determination into the cause of these failures is made and a solution is found. We sincerely apologize for this situation and to anyone that has been affected by this issue.

HS-20110524 HS-7940/7945/7950TH Glitching
In some cases, when using the 7940/45/50’s in applications that require a very long extension, they may randomly jump (glitch) when powered by 2S LiPo/Li-Ion batteries. Although this may occur with many systems, it is most commonly found when using JR/Spektrum type RX’s, especially the Power Safe versions. We have discovered that due to the resistance in long extension wires, the signal voltage drops, thus causing the issue. We recommend that only high-quality, twisted, 22-guage, high strand count, gold connector extensions be used. In the event that this does not resolve the problem, there are a few options. The use of a signal line booster like that made by Spektrum, and soon to be available by Hitec, resolves the issue in almost all cases. Another option is to solder a .22 tantalum capacitor between +/- on the extension. These solutions are typically only needed when using Li-Po/Li-Ion batteries to lower the voltage below 7 volts and is not needed when using 5-cell NiCd/NiMH or LiFe batteries.

We are aware that these are high voltage servos designed to operate at the maximum voltage allowed for maximum performance. However, to accommodate some radio systems, steps may be required to assure the above issue will not occur. Hitec apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and is working on a series of new Ultra Heavy Duty extensions (with and without boosters) that will resolve this issue.

HS-20100520 HS-79XX Series Servo – Minimal Load Jitter
Applies to HS-7965/7985/7955/7954/7940/7950 servos

Customers have noticed that these high resolution servos have a tendency to jitter when using 7.4 volt power packs and a minimal load is applied. This is due to the high resolution circuit adjusting for slight position variances in the gear teeth. This usually only occurs with minimal loads, for example, when the plane is on the ground in a static position. Once airborne the servo experiences flying loads and the issue resolves itself and should not impact on the flying experience.

TX-20100520 Aurora 9 Transmitter – Using EPA and D/R Functions Create Dead Zone in Stick Travel
We have confirmed customer reports of a software bug involving the End Point Adjustment and Dual Rate functions. When both functions are at their highest settings, there is a significant dead zone at the stick endpoints. Until this issue is resolved in a future software update, it is advisable for customers to keep either the D/R or EPA setting at 125% or less and the other at 120% or less.
RX-20100520 – Optima Receiver Antenna Breaking – Applies to Early Production (before February 2010) Optima 6, 7 and 9 Channel Receivers
It has come to our attention that some customers are breaking the “wisker” off of the BODA antenna used on the Optima series receivers. If this happen the results will be a decrease of operable range. Hitec has taken steps to resolve this issue in future productions by utilizing a plastic bushing. For existing receivers without this bushing, it is recommended that customers apply a small amount of flexible adhesive such as Shoe Goo around the upper tip of the BODA and the antenna wisker.

Desert Aircraft DA-60 Gas Engine!

Desert Aircraft DA-60 NEW Gas Engine

After a long wait, the new Desert Aircraft DA-60 engines have been released and now in stock at Troy Built Models! A perfect power upgrade for any 50cc aircraft! The Desert Aircraft DA-60 is the latest high performance offering from Desert Aircraft for planes in the 50cc to 70cc class.

Our first shipment sold out quick! Call in to put yours on order/backorder!

The Desert Aircraft reed valve and Walbro carburetor are well matched, providing consistent engine performance at all flight attitudes and throttle settings. Throttle and choke arms are pre-installed.

The engine delivers superb performance while maintaining excellent structural integrity. The rigid integral engine mount and robust, well balanced crankshaft ensure smooth operation. Depending on firewall location, the engine can be mounted without stand offs or spacers, which further eliminates vibration.

The DA60 with its integral mount weighs less than the DA50 with standoff mounts, and shows lower vibration levels than the DA50. With equal props, the DA60 out turns the DA50 by 600+ rpm!

The crankcase is CNC machined from 7075 T6 alloy, while titanium is used for the prop shaft extension. The exhaust port shape lends itself well to standard style mufflers or tuned exhaust systems that use round headers. This is the same cylinder and piston as used on the well proven DA120 twin.

As with all Desert Aircraft engines, each DA60 is thoroughly test ran at the factory before shipping.

Check out the new DA-60 on our webpage for more details!

New TBM Gas Engine Velocity Stacks!

TBM Velocity Stack, Large, Solid Billet CNC machined from T6 alloy, red anodize

NEW! TBM Velocity Stacks!

TBM is committed to providing quality products and these new Velocity Stacks are no exception.

They are CNC machined from a solid billet of 6061-T6 aluminum and are finished in a brilliant red anodize.

A Velocity Stack can improve your engines overall performance by increasing throttle response and peak power.

It captures more air, speeds it up and straitens it out to pack more air/fuel mixture in to your engine. Slight increases in mixture settings may be required.

You may also attach a piece of screen material or aluminum mesh to the end of the bell for additional protection against ingestion of foreign debris.

A velocity stack will only work effectively with a proper running engine and is in no way a fix for erratic engine behavior.

Depending on your engines carburetor and mounting block arrangement, special length bolts may be required.

TBM Velocity Stacks are engineered to use 5mm carburetor mounting bolts.
