KingTech Kero Start Battery Requirement
KingTech Kero Start Battery Requirement
Please be advised that the start performance of your KingTech Kero Start turbine will be greatly enhanced with a slightly higher voltage battery pack, ie. 7-cell NiMh, 3s LiFe or A123s.
With an above mentioned battery pack, the setting of the parameters would not be as crucial and overall start time would be greatly reduced, and false or wet starts will most likely become a thing of the past. We have thoroughly tested all components and found it safe to operate with the batteries listed. With the slightly higher voltage, we are averaging no more than 300mAh per flight on a K-170, much lower than when using a 2s LiPo pack. This is because the starts are quicker and both the pump and starter motor are drawing less current.
If you are currently using a 2s LiPo and find a lack of consistent starts or feel you are not getting enough good starts per charge, that's because it is only operable within the top 20% to 30% of the charge. Anything below 8.0V will become somewhat inconsistent. By using the above recommended packs diesel starts will be just as easy.
We thank you for choosing KingTech and wish you many happy landings.
